GA4 for business: 6 reports worth checking every month

GA4 for business: 6 reports worth checking every month

Google Analytics 4 can be overwhelming with the amount of data. We have picked the reports that show in fifteen minutes whether your website and campaigns are working for your business.

Google Analytics 4 (GA4) provides a huge amount of data, but for a business owner a few answers matter: where customers come from, what they do on the website and how many of them get in touch or buy. Instead of browsing dozens of reports, it is worth checking six each month that genuinely help you make decisions.

Before you start: key events

Reports only make sense once GA4 knows what matters to you. Set up key events (formerly conversions), such as a form submission, a click on the phone number or email, or a purchase. You will find instructions in the Google Analytics help. Without them you see traffic, but you do not know whether it brings customers.

1. Traffic acquisition

The "Traffic acquisition" report shows where users come from: search, ads, social media, links from other websites or directly. Check not only the number of visits but also which sources bring key events.

2. Pages and screens

See which pages are visited most often and how long users stay on them. If an important service page gets few visits, it may be hard to find in the menu or poorly visible in Google.

3. Landing pages

The report on the pages where users start their visit shows which content attracts traffic - for example blog articles or specific services. It is a good hint about what to write and what to develop.

4. Key events by source

The most important business report: how many enquiries or purchases each traffic source brings. It lets you judge which campaigns and channels are worth growing and which only cost money.

5. Devices

Compare user behaviour on phones and computers. If phones bring many visits but few contacts, the website may not work comfortably on small screens - read mobile-first online stores.

6. Demographics and location

Which cities and countries do users come from? This matters especially for local businesses and those planning to enter new markets. The data also helps set up ad campaigns better.

How to read the data and draw conclusions?

  • compare month to month and year to year, not individual days
  • look at trends, not one-off spikes
  • combine GA4 data with information from your sales team: where customers actually come from
  • after every major change on the website, check how it affected key events

GA4 and cookie consent

Under the regulations, analytics can run fully only after the user gives consent. That is why a correctly implemented consent setup (such as Consent Mode) matters. You can read how we process data on our website in the cookie policy.

How can we help?

We set up analytics, events and reports as part of Google Ads campaigns and SEO. Each month you get a clear report with the key conclusions - without being flooded with data. If you like, we will check your GA4 setup - write to us.

Frequently asked questions

Is GA4 free?

Yes, the standard version of Google Analytics 4 is free.

Why does GA4 data differ from ad platform data?

The tools count visits and conversions in different ways, and some users do not consent to analytics. Differences are normal - trends are what matter.

How often should I check the reports?

Once a month is enough for decision-making. With active campaigns it is worth looking more often.
